Our Rooms
Surf Hostel is a charming and historic Basque house, fully renovated, with two independent spaces and their own separate entrances.
The main hostel offers 5 rooms and 15 beds (Milady, Marbella, Grande Plage, Côte des Basques, Miramar), while the extension opened in 2023 features 3 rooms and 10 beds (Belza, Mouscariette, Le Phare).
Each space has its own kitchen and bathrooms. You can choose a mixed dorm or book a private room, whether you are traveling solo, with friends or as a couple.

Our Team
Dörte and Thomas have been running the hostel together since 2018. Candice, originally from Mauritius, joined our team in 2023. Marvin, a local, has been part of the adventure since last year. We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay truly unforgettable.

The story of Surf Hostel began in the summer of 2009, when Christophe and Melissa left Australia with their seven children and moved into what is now the main hostel. Soon after, their landlord offered them a new apartment with three additional bedrooms. That opportunity sparked an idea: why not turn the space into a hostel built around a simple concept : Bed + Breakfast + Surfboard? And that is exactly how Surf Hostel was born.

The Surf Hostel adventure began for me in 2015 in Biarritz, before expanding to Bidart the following year. In 2018, after the Bidart location closed, my husband Thomas and I naturally took over the Biarritz hostel to continue growing this project that truly reflects who we are. Today, we are committed to creating a warm and welcoming place so that your stay remains unforgettable.
Dorte & Thomas
Today, Dörte and Thomas have been running the hostel together since 2018. Élodie, who also lives in the area, joined our team this year. Marvin is from here, grew up on the Basque Coast, and has been part of the adventure since last year. Together, we look forward to welcoming you and making your stay warm, simple, and unforgettable.
